“It doesn’t look quite well for our gold Macedonia, because officials don’t know how to run the country properly. There is a lot of stealing, lying, corruption…and if we work consciously, the citizens would be living like in Switzerland. Politicians are stealing, but no one goes to prison, that’s strange, they support each other. I haven’t seen anything like this during my 71 years, namely, in Tito’s time we didn’t have such problems, I’m not saying that everything was perfect, there were also little sparks even back then, but there was harmony and coexistence”, says one person from Skopje in response to CIVIL’s question “What kind of future awaits the country – green or black?”.
A citizen who works every day in the Old Skopje Bazaar says that he doesn’t have work anymore, that he barely earns anything. Regarding the environment, he pointed out that only the center of Skopje is cleaned, and that in other neighbourhoods only the main streets are cleaned, and indicated Suto Orizari as an example.
Another citizen said that this Government has started to follow the steps of the previous corrupt government, and that there is no one to lead the country on the right path.
“The worst thing in Macedonia is that young and educated people are leaving the country every day. Not to mention the economy. Regarding the ecology, the citizens are just as much to blame as is the state, because they haven’t been taught to protect the environment. We see that there are constantly fires, and this contributes to polluted air both in the summer and winter period”, he adds.
There is no future here, with lies everywhere. Not even the courts function.
Another citizens says that a “tar black” future is awaiting the country.
