The third annual Western Balkans Circular Economy Week is to take place on 27-31 May, 2024. This year’s theme is “Sustainable Bridge: Unite, Uplift, Upcycle”.
Organizations from the Western Balkan countries, members of the LogEx community, will hold a series of parallel activities with which they will promote good practices and knowledge, but also the challenges and prospects of the circular economy in the region.
The regional initiative of the LogEx community – founded by Balkan Forum – has the aim to revolutionize the Western Balkans’ approach to sustainable development, by promoting circular economy practices. By bringing together different actors, including academia, civil society organizations, media, businesses and experts, the Circular Economy Week has the goal to foster cooperation and encourage meaningful changes in the region.
CIVIL, this year again, will implement a rich program during the Western Balkans Circular Economy Week.
Starting Monday, 27 May, CIVIL’s media platform will be publishing educational content related to the circular economy. At the same time, it will also publish a series of interviews focusing on the prospects of this economic area of the future.
The preparation of an analysis on the topic “The circular economy in times of war and uncertainty” is in progress.
CIVIL will conclude the week of action across the region on 31 May with a public event on the same topic, at which the analysis will be presented, as well as the activities of the member organizations of the LogEx community throughout the region.
CIVIL’s main goal within the regional initiative is to contribute to strengthening public awareness about the importance and prospects of the green, that is, circular economy by identifying the challenges imposed by the wars, conflicts and other crisis such as the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the hybrid war against the West and the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
The LogEx community, founded in December 2021, is a partnership committed to bridging the gap between higher education and the employment marketplace in the Western Balkans. By focusing on building human capital, strengthening the circular economy, and promoting sustainable development, the LogEx community aims to create a brighter future for the region.
Members of the LogEx community: The Balkan Forum (WB), Build Green Group (Albania), CENER 21, COD Jajce (Bosnia and Herzegovina), CIVIL / Green CIVIL (North Macedonia), Universum International College (Kosovo), YIHR (Serbia), ADP-Zid (Montenegro).
